Leader of the Year - Highly Commended
Lynne Chambers, Head of Safeguarding
Lynne Chambers’ tenaciousness, professionalism and passion for her role make her an excellent leader. Lynne approaches all challenges including her leadership during the COVID pandemic with curiosity and compassion and always goes above and beyond to apply a solution focussed approach to all tasks.
She is compassionate and supportive towards her staff and makes suggestions for improvement bringing the person’s voice to every table as a true advocate for our people and our communities. Lynne’s passion extends to ensuring a safe place for everyone, a place free from abuse and harm and where everyone is given the opportunity to be the best they can be. Her integrity, person-centredness and can-do attitude make Lynne stand out as an exceptional leader and role model.
Lynne played an influential part in the development of the Exceptional Risk Forum established in Leeds for consideration of people who remain at exceptional risk despite multi-agency safeguarding adult’s policy and procedures having been followed. With almost one in three women experiencing domestic violence in their lifetime (and rising, in both male and female victims), Lynne has also championed processes for not only keeping our communities safe but also our workforce, going above and beyond and displaying her strong moral compass. Lynne also plays a fundamental role in providing internal challenge and scrutiny in our patient safety incident management processes which is applied with kindness and civility and in the spirit of learning and improvement.
Laura Smith, Director of Workforce surprised Lynne with a hamper and certificate and thanked her saying, "You are the crème de la crème. It is my pleasure and privilege to present this award to you. Your hard work is seen and appreciated and you truly deserve this."
Lynne said "This is not just me everybody works so hard, are so dedicated and passionate in what they believe in. I wouldn't want to work anywhere else! Thank you very much!"
Lynne was nominated by Sheila Sorby, Assistant Director of Nursing and Clinical Governance who added, “In the most challenging of circumstances, Lynne can galvanise others to get things done. The way she supports both her team and colleagues across the Trust with an incredibly positive outlook and attitude is admirable, and always with the best outcome for people set firmly as her goal. This attribute has been tested and proven throughout the pandemic, with unprecedented levels of safeguarding, where people – both staff and patients have remained her priority, and even fitting in clinical shifts to support our frontline services. Lynne is great leader and role model for community care and safeguarding and a true ambassador for LCH and its values.”
