Thank You Event 2020: Colleague of the Year - Winner
Every year we celebrate our amazing staff and their achievements at our pop-up ceremony. This year to keep everyone as safe as possible the event will be held virtually - Board members will pop into video meetings to surprise colleagues and present them with a trophy to celebrate as they are shining examples of our magnificent staff behaviours.
We will be posting all the winners as we reveal them so keep a look out on our website and social media channels.
Colleague of the Year - Winner
Shirley Weaver, Management Support Officer for Yeadon and Holt Park Neighbourhood Teams has worked in the NHS for 28 years and is described as a “wonderful, kind and helpful person you can go to if you ever need any help.” Shirley’s role across both Neighbourhood teams is varied and she carries out her work with great flexibility and creativity.
Shirley was nominated for Colleague of the Year by Em Campbell, Service Manager.
Emi said: “Shirley is renowned for the welcome she gives staff; whether brand new Neighbourhood Clinical Assistants or admin in their first role, newly qualified nurses, staff returning from long-term sick/maternity leave or new leaders into the service. This year this has been particularly important and noticeable with the redeployed staff who came to support during Covid. Shirley welcomed each person, thought about how they might be feeling and spoke with them about anything else she could do to support them and build their confidence in a totally different role. At the same time, she supported existing staff who were anxious about the pandemic whilst trying to understand the many changes to guidance.
“Shirley receives a lot of really positive feedback about the care she provides to the teams and we’d like to ensure that more people know about what a huge part of the West 2 teams she is and how much we all appreciate her.”
Executive Director of Finance Bryan Machin and our Chief Executive, Thea Stein popped into Shirley’s virtual team meeting to surprise her with the award.
Shirley said: "I love working in the West 2 community team and I love working in the NHS - I must do or I wouldn't have stayed working in it for 28 years. I absolute love working in the community too and I am just gobsmacked - but thank you to everyone!”
