Coproduction

Coproduction is about working towards a service designed in equal partnership between service users, service decision makers, staff, carers, and members of the community. In practice, this looks like:

  • Projects to address certain issues or reach specific communities in Leeds
  • Making links between people who use the service and decision makers within it, with the aim of both having equal power in shaping the way the service works for the better.

We have a Coproduction Network which is open to anyone in Leeds with an interest in mental health. We work with each member to discover individual interests, skills and personal goals, and link them up with the most relevant pieces of work within the Network. The Coproduction Network does not expect a certain time commitment – members are welcome to be involved whenever and however it suits them.

Current projects include:

LS9 Lives

LS9 Lives explores how we can support the people who live and work in LS9 to better wellbeing. This includes going into the community and building relationships with people and community groups to find out what they want and need, and how we can work with them to make this happen.

Leeds LGBT+ Minds

Leeds LGBT+ Minds is looking into how to improve mental health for all LGBTQIA+ people in the city. In late 2021, we ran a 6-day Community Wellbeing Festival, inviting the LGBTQIA+ community of Leeds to come together to share their experiences of mental health and accessing services, offer feedback, connect with others and enjoy interactive wellbeing workshops. We are currently working on changes to LMWS based on the information we gathered.

LMWS Consultation Group

We are currently setting up a LMWS Consultation Group made up of local people with lived experience of mental health who could be contacted for input on resources, decisions and processes for our service.

How to join the Coproduction Network

If you are interested in improving mental health services in Leeds, you can sign up to be a member of the network.

We will arrange to meet with you to discuss your interests and what you’d like to get out of membership, and from there you can get involved with relevant projects.
