April’s Thanks a bunch went to Amy Robertson, District Nurse at Woodsley Neighbourhood Team.
Amy went to great lengths to help a near end of life patient visit her sick dad in Harrogate. The patient wasn’t well enough to go in the car with her family, so Amy contacted the Palliative Care Ambulance Team who said they would be happy to take the patient to visit her dad and they would even wait and bring her back home whenever she was ready.
Due to Amy’s compassionate care and the support of The Palliative Care Ambulance Team, the patient got to fulfil one of her very last wishes. Amy’s quick thinking also enabled loved ones to say a very important good bye.
Amy, who is described by members of her team as ‘the glue keeping Woodsley together’, was surprised by Steph Lawrence, Executive Director of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals, who said “You really demonstrated our values and behaviours, and for that I wanted to say thank you.”
Nyree McHale, Management Support Officer who nominated Amy, said “This nomination is for Amy, but it is also for all community staff, who go above and beyond every day and don’t even realise it because they’re ‘just doing their job’.
Amy said “I’m speechless. I feel really valued and it’s always nice to be recognised. I work in a great team – we’re always recognising good practice and good behaviour so it’s nice when it happens to you.”
Amy was acknowledged for the Trust behaviours of: Caring for one another, Working together, Finding solutions, Leading by example, Making the best decisions and Caring for our patients.
