In order to maintain Health Professions Council (HPC) registration, all our clinicians undertake a certain amount of Continuing Professional Development activity on an ongoing basis. In addition to this many of our clinicians have undertaken significant post-graduate training in various musculoskeletal (MSK) specialities.
A large number of clinicians have completed MSc modules and gained Post Graduate Certificates, Post Graduate Diplomas and full Masters degrees. Some of our Extended Scope Practioners (ESP's) have completed, or are in the process of completing, Doctorates. Many of our staff are studying for, or have already attained, postgraduate qualifications in the fields of physiotherapy and podiatry. Within our service, we also supervise the development of approximately fifty student physiotherapists and a small number of Occupational therapy students each year.
As well as university post-graduate education, many of our clinicians have completed courses with the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (SOM), Neuro-Orthopaedic Institute (NOI), Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP), McKenzie Institute, and the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), in order to specialise in a particular area of MSK assessment or treatment.
As part of our commitment to clinical excellence and using the best evidence-based practice, several clinicians have designed and carried out a number of original pieces of research. Recent examples include:
