Adult Learning Disability Speech and Language Therapy Service (Adult LD)

The Adult Learning Disability Speech and Language Therapy Service works with adults 18 and over who have a recognized learning disability.

What we do?

Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) are the clinical experts in communication and swallowing disorders. Our service supports people with Learning Disabilities who have significant communication difficulties or problems with eating and drinking safely.

We work as part of a learning disability multi-disciplinary team alongside: Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Psychologists and Psychiatrists 

How/where is the service delivered?

The service works in community settings including service users' homes, day services, college or places of work. We may work directly with the service user and/or with their carers or support staff.

Our service is available Monday-Friday 9-5, we provide some flexibility to assess specific difficulties


Anyone can refer for Speech and Language Therapy for Adults with Learning Disabilities.

Referrals are made through the Learning Disabilities Single Point of Access (SPA)
