Thanks a Bunch Martin!

This week’s Thanks a bunch went to Head of Information Technology, Martin Harris. He was nominated by Executive Director of Operations, Sam Prince for his commitment, support and amazing problem-solving skills.

Thanks a Bunch Martin

Sam detailed that Martin went above and beyond when there was a problem with Virgin Media affecting the ability of Single Point of Urgent Referral (SPUR) team to see referrals from the hospital. Although Martin was on holiday, when he heard about the problem, he liaised with Virgin Media and put a fix in place so that the service could continue. This had a huge impact, not only on the working lives of staff in SPUR, but also directly on patients who were able to be discharged from hospital in a timely way. Sam explained how the last email she received from Martin during this time was on his day off at 1:40am the next morning, demonstrating just how committed he is to doing a good job.

Executive Director of Finance and Resources, Bryan Machin surprised Martin and commended him, “This is just one of the many examples of your commitment to sorting things out and making sure that a good job is done using your skills and experiences, wherever and whenever you can, to help patient care. I think that is well worth rewarding, and should be recognised and shared across the Trust.”

Martin said, "I'm delighted to receive the award and to know the organisation recognises the importance of the department. I would like this to reflect on the whole team, as they always go the extra mile and try to pull out all the stops to help out."

Martin is acknowledged for demonstrating the Trust behaviours of: Leading by example, Caring for one another, Adapting to change and delivering improvements, Finding solutions
