Thanks a Bunch Alex, Fatima and Alex!
July’s Thanks a bunch went to Podiatrist Alex Topham, Student Podiatrist Fatima Borbajo, and Customer Service Administrators Alex Butterfield from the Podiatry team for their fantastic efforts and brave work whilst attending to a difficult situation at Seacroft Clinic.
After finding a patient unresponsive in the main waiting room, Fatima was quick to respond and alert staff. Alex B quickly fetched the emergency grab bag containing the defibrillator machine and contacted emergency services immediately. Alex T and Fatima carried out CPR and Alex did a superb job assisting, while ensuring that no other patients entered the building. They worked quickly and showed amazing teamwork, and immense courage.
Bryan Machin, Director of Finance surprised the team to thank them for their incredible efforts. He said, “We wanted to acknowledge your efforts and make sure you know how appreciated they are. Working together in the way that you did meant that you helped a patient in need. On behalf of all of us at LCH, thank you.”
The staff members were nominated by Jordan Patterson from the Podiatry team and Service Manager, Susan Holley who said: “ We are truly proud of their efforts. They really did live up the behaviours of LCH by caring for our patients and working as a team”.
Alex Topham, Podiatrist said: “We’ve all had routine training in basic life support, but you never expect that you’re going to have to use it. It was a really stressful time and waiting for the ambulance was the longest eight minutes of our lives – but we got through it together and did what we needed to do.”
Alex, Fatima and Alex are acknowledged for the Trust behaviours of: Caring for our patients, Making the best decisions, Caring for one another, Working together and Finding solutions.
