Watch It weight management

Watch It has received four national awards and achieved preferred provider status with the Department of Health

The Watch It service is a community based weight management programme for children from 5 to 18 years of age and offers two separate programmes, Watch It Classic and Healthy Families.

Watch It Classic Programme - for the whole family

Watch It Classic Programmes is a physical activity and lifestyle programme for secondary school age children and young people (11 to 18 years) and their families.

The programme is 16 weeks with the opportunity to opt in for more support for up to one year. The programme addresses eating behaviours, nutrition and physical activity.

Children should:

·       live in Leeds and be aged 11 to 18 years;

·       have a body mass index (BMI) on or above the 91st centile;

·       have a parent or carer willing to attend regularly with their child.

Healthy Families Programme - for parents only

The Healthy Families' programme is a 10 week, term-time, parent-only group, designed for parents and carers of primary school children (5 to 11 years) to support them to achieve and maintain a healthy weight for their children.

Children should:

·       live in Leeds and be aged 5 to 11 years;

·       have a body mass index (BMI) on or above the 91st centile;

·       have a parent or carer willing to attend for 10 weeks, term time only.
 

What does Watch It offer?

·       Weight management for overweight and very overweight children and young people.

·       Lifestyle advice and support for client families.

·       Assessment of individual family needs and signposting to other support.

·       Promotion of health and wellbeing.

·       General health information and advice.

Referrals

Watch It recruits all year round and accepts referrals from health, education and social care staff as well as directly from families.

John Charles Centre for Sport  (3.30-6.30pm Activity 4.00-5.00pm)    
 

The Healthy Families Programme runs term time only at a variety of venues across the city according to need.
