Community Children's Audiology

The service identifies children early in life with hearing impairment so that the condition be best managed.

Staff work with the child and family to consider all health and wellbeing issues, not just hearing loss, with referral to other health services as needed.

Hearing assessments are offered in sites across Leeds in purpose built, soundproofed facilities so they are close to people’s home.

The team is made up of:

  • consultant and staff grade paediatricians
  • audiologists and audilogical scientists
  • administrative staff

Referrals

Children are referred into the service from health professionals and carers:

  • GPs, paediatricians
  • school nurses
  • health visitors
  • speech and language therapists
  • newborn hearing screening programme
  • school screen
