Stammering Support Centre

Welcome to the Stammering Support Centre, provided by Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust Speech and Language Therapy service.

The Centre opened in April 2011 and is supported by Yorkshire and Humber Primary Care Trusts offering highly specialist speech and language therapy assessment and support for children, young people and adults who stammer.

It provides support and resources for speech and language therapists across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Action for Stammering Children (ASC) provide their support by funding some packages of assessment for children and training for therapists working with children. They also support the Michael Palin Centre, London in the work their centre does with Children. Visit their website at www.stammeringcentre.org

The centre has been established with support from various organisations which include the British Stammering Association and the Department for Education.

We appreciate the support from the various organisations in providing this key service to clients in the region. As part of developing this centre we have welcomed the time and input from children, young people and adults along with their families to create a truly client centred service for those who stammer.

About the Centre

The specialist services for stammering are located on the first floor of the building with welcoming waiting areas and comfortable clinical rooms.
