Children's Nutrition and Dietetic Service
NHS Leeds Community Healthcare Children’s Nutrition and Dietetic Service supports children with a wide range of nutrition and health problems including:
· Food intolerance or allergy
· Weight concerns
· Nutrition assessment e.g. for iron deficiency
· Assessment of restricted diets/eating problems
· Nutrition support including tube feeding
We accept referrals from GPs, community paediatricians, school nurses, specialist nurses, health visitors, allied health professionals (AHPs) and Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
On referral, the service will offer a consultation at a local clinic or if needed home, school or nursery. The dietitian works with the family to identify the changes that are needed and supports the child and carers by providing practical and accurate information.
We also work in multi-disciplinary teams with Children’s Integrated Clinics and the Growth and Nutrition Service.
We train healthcare and other staff on child nutrition topics and contribute to public health projects.
The service is provided by registered dietitians, dietetic assistants and administration staff.
